MJ Bowlers sparkle in FTBJ-ICBL 33rd tourney

Guest team MJ Bowlers made their presence felt after they claimed the Team of the Week award during the 11th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 33rd Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.
A team of Malaysians, MJ Bowlers banked on a fast start to win the battle for honors against the new leader Paradise Brand and end up on top of a tight leaderboard.
MJ finished on 38 points with Paradise Brand on 37. Lance & 3rdy and previous week honoree Lucky Strike came through with 35 and 34 points while Alliance in Motion Global and Boleros tied on 28.
Sky Freight Forwarders pooled 18 points in seventh place. D’ Barkads compiled 14 points, ahead of the last three to check in namely Tarus RDLR 13, Hidada Ltd. 11 and GM Pin Pals.
Paradise managed to get over its disappointment in not winning the team award thanks to Fahd Al Romai who clinched the men’s Bowler of the Week accolade after shooting the highs series of 680 on lines of 165, 246, 257.
The ladies race for Bowler of the Week had Matet Cavite of Lucky Strike winning at 671 on scatch games of 192, 244 and 181.
Going first-second in the first two games, MJ Bowlers drew inspired performances from the quartet of Abdul Rashid, Azhanawati, Leong Suhain and Maliza who carded 651, 643, 616 and 526 in that order.
Shafie put in two games of 181-163 while Azizan Hassan had 171.
Along with Al Romai skipper Igna Salgado struck lethal blows for Paradise which netted 564 and 491 from Fuly Primo and Marie Gumpal, 201-256 from Rey Beltran and 177-201 fom Majid Aslani.
Lance & 3rdy picked a single set of five players to built its score. At the helm was the duo of Nonie Yap 624 and Ric Reformado 613, followed by Ding dela Rosa 603, Evelyn Santoc 599 and Aisah Silabay.
